The Yu-Gi-Oh! Summoner Format

Hello Duelists!

I know you’ve been looking for a new format. I’ve heard you loud and clear.

Even Konami tried to fix this by introducing by introducing 5 new formats, hoping one would stick. But let me tell you, they haven’t and these formats stink.

Time To Summon!

The Summoner format is easy to jump into and play, but changes up the whole meta to bring some decks up and others down.

With Summoner, you’ll play with the same Forbidden List and the ENTIRE remaining card pool available to your in the Yu-Gi-Oh! format. The catch? Your Summoning grows stronger throughout the duel, changing the way you play!

It goes like this.

Round 1-3: No special summoning

Round 4: Fusion / Ritual

Round 5: Synchro

Round 6: XYZ

Round 7: Pendulum

Round 8: Link

The order is listed by release order. This is because:

  1. It’s the easiest to remember

  2. It’s the easier for returning players (it goes from most familiar summoning to least)

  3. Power levels of special summoning can fluctuate to some degree and I think it’s best to keep this set and not be something that’s changed around unless it has to be.

Let’s Talk Benefits

  1. Brings back, back and forth!

  2. Flip effects and traps may finally shine a little more.

  3. Commentators may be able to keep up with the game easier.

  4. The game will build up over time into more powerful plays.

  5. Easier to get into for newer, more casual gamers.

  6. We can have fun, custom Yu-Gi-Oh! round trackers for the format!
