What You Should Know - Jackbox Party Pack 7 Review

If you’re new to Jackbox, then where have you been?! Jackbox is a series of games that can be played simply on your phone, tablet, or computer. What’s cool is you can play with an entire group (either online, offline or a combination of both) with only needing one copy of the game!

The game’s aren’t expensive either, especially if you get them on a sale.

The Jackbox Party Pack 7 is the latest release and the Vindicated team has had our fill of delight with what this package offers.

I’m sure if you read reviews online you’d see a lot of people clamoring about this one being the best one yet, but we’re here to shoot things straight for you, so let’s get down to brass taxes.

Quiplash 3
At first glance, this is just another version of Quiplash and doesn’t do much to justify its existence apart from being a great, solid, and fun game in the Jackbox Party Pack arsenal.

With further relfection though, this version does offer a multitude of options not presented in previous incarnations, such as a family friendly option, creating your own prompts, and adjusting various other settings.

Verdict: Y (2/4) This game isn’t a reason to purchase this Jackbox, especially if you already have Quiplash on another pack. However, if you really want the other games on this pack, or want the family option, then this could be pushed to the “Z 3/4” rating.

The Devils And The Details
This was the one I was most eager for, as it seemed the most experimental and the art direction is great. Players will find themselves trying to accomplish tasks, having to rely on others for certain tasks, and trying to do selfish task for their own gain.

The theme, music, and direction all compliment each other nicely and while many reviewers say this game is an absolute blast, our team didn’t feel that was the case.

The game can’t function with Twitch streaming as the others can. Which may or may not be an issue for you, but additionally it features very long rounds and the game almost requires yelling at one another or losing, making it more strenuous than a Jackbox game typically is. This one falls flat for us, but we’re willing to change our minds on it.

Verdict: X (1/4)

Champ’d Up
After The Devils and the Details we were pleasantly surprised with what just might be the best Jackbox game in ANY party pack.

Champ’d Up is more fun than any previous drawing game of theirs and has the best music, little down time, and fast delivery with the jokes.

It’s easy for anyone to play and those who aren’t good at drawing have an equally great chance of wooing the audience over and winning the game.

There’s actual thought that can be rewarded for thinking of how to match up rivals and when it’s best to tag out your champion, all the while, being an extremely simple game to play.

Verdict: V (4/4)

Talking Points
This game is essentially the “presentations” game they play on Impractical Jokers, only there’s no prank being pulled on the audience. Instead, you give impromptu presentations based on images and text that other player’s give you.

As someone who loves improv comedy, I didn’t feel rewarded for coming up with witty humor on the fly because points are given out very randomly, to the point to where the points don’t matter in this game.

As for people who don’t like giving presentations, this game is more uncomfortable for them than any other Jackbox game, putting them at the forefront of some of their biggest fears.

Everything being said, the game does offer laughs and funny scenarios. Just know the points don’t matter like “Who’s Line Is It Anyways.”

Verdict: Y (2/4)

Blather ‘Round
This is an interesting game and one that’s hard to describe, which is oddly fitting given its premise. Essentially, you’ll receive a pop culture title such as “Shrek” or “Brittany Spears” and will have to describe your title using abstract words and phrases. The players will take as many guesses as they wish and you use their guesses to help them get the correct answer.

Whoever guesses your word gets points and you get points as well. You’re rewarded with more points if you can get someone to guess quickly.

This one is a tricky game but becomes more fun the more you play it as you being noticing how everyone things and working on a near subconscious level.

This is a great new addition to the party pack games but can’t prop an entire pack by itself.

Verdict: Z (3/4)

The Final Verdict
We rate the Jackbox Party Pack 7 a Y (2/4).

While we don’t regret this purchase because of Champ’d up, the rest of the pack just simply isn’t as fun as a whole.

If this pack had one more game to help balance the risk taken with some of the other packs, such as a Fibbage or a new Joke Boat, then this pack could easily have received an amazing rating.
