Soul Eater Inspired Tabletop RPG Black Paper Moon, Brings Something Different To The Table
Monsters mash, but they also do lots of other things.
When the world is filled with creepy, weird, destructive evil, the only thing you can do is to stop it or succumb to it.
Would-be Hunters come from all walks of life, whether it be second-son princes, orphans, experiments, monsters, the recently deceased, or even all the above.
Black Paper Moon is inspired by the weird, spooky, and charming, with hints of Soul Eater, Konosuba, and Psychonauts found within its pages.
Black Paper Moon centers on these Hunters who specialize in using weapons and special powers to fend of evil.
Hunters are given free reign to design their weapons as they see fit and choose a power set that works for them and can be uniquely their own.
The design of Black Paper Moon is focused on collaborative storytelling and allowing complete freedom in how one sets up their character, with a streamlined “5-Minute” character creation system.
Black Paper Moon doesn’t take itself too seriously, and while the characters are definitely portrayed to look awesome, that won’t hinder the game’s idiosyncratic nature.
Hunters’ stats are simply their main weapon (which can even be claws and fists), powers, drawbacks, and deviations.
Anything a Hunter is good at will allow the player to roll an extra die, where as everything else is a single d6. The World Master (Vindicated’s term for Game Masters) can impose positive and negative modifiers given if a situation has advantages or disadvantages.
As Hunters perform challenges and struggle, they’ll begin stacking a “Die Tower,” which is a tower, literally made from dice that are stacked by players. This creates tension at the table and imposes a different “Health System” from your typical tabletop roleplaying games.
You can expect Black Paper Moon to hit Kickstarter October 4th 2022, so it’s coming quickly! Mark your calendars and buckle in, things are about to get fun!
