How Does Ghoullotine Work?

Below you can see some of the fantabulous artwork by Abby Edwards and our current Ghoullotine template.

The rules are simple.
1. Each player rolls 1d20 to determine who goes first. The player who’s closest to 13, goes first. In the case of a tie (example: someone rolls 12, another rolls 14), then the lower result goes first. If there’s still a tie, then the youngest among those whose tied, goes first.
2. Each player begins the game with 3 cards in their opening hand (you may look at them).
3. The starting player, plays any 1 card from their hand. This card’s value is added to a value shared among every player at the table. If the value goes above 13, then the active player is removed from the game. Their turn immediately ends and no effects are resolved. Then, each other player remaining, draws until they have 3 cards in their hand (if they have more than 3, they keep their hand). If the shared total is not above 13, then your card’s effect activates (if any).
4. Continue taking turns clockwise until 1 player is remaining.

Negative Cards
Some cards apply a negative number value. When these cards are played, the total value is reduced by the amount of the negative number.

If No One Goes Over 13
Then every player calculates the value on their side (of cards they played). Whoever has the lowest value, is removed from the game. If there’s a tie, then the player with the fewer amount of cards in play is removed from the game.
